Community Spotlight - Second Harvest Food Bank

As the cost of food, housing, and childcare continues to strain household budgets, the need for food assistance in Silicon Valley remains near record levels. One in six people in our community relies on Second Harvest for food, and half are children and seniors. For many families, putting nutritious meals on the table means making difficult choices about other household expenses. Those choices can feel especially difficult during the holidays, when families hope to create special memories for their loved ones while already struggling to afford the essentials.

At Tech CU, we believe no one should have to choose between buying groceries and paying their bills.

In 2026, we're helping provide 100,000 meals through our support of Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Since our partnership began in 1991, we've shared a commitment to ensuring everyone in our community has access to nutritious food and have helped provide more than 795,000 meals. Alongside our donation, Tech CU employees will also participate in food sorting, an important step in preparing groceries for distribution.

Second Harvest serves approximately 500,000 people each month, distributing free groceries through its network of community partners. This support helps families meet their basic needs while freeing up limited resources for other expenses.

But the work is far from over. As we head into the holiday season, we're reminded of the importance of gathering around a meal and ensuring others can do the same. We remain committed to supporting Second Harvest for years to come, helping children, families, and individuals access nutritious food during the holidays and throughout the year.

If you're interested in joining us, every $1 donated helps provide enough food for two meals. You can make a donation, start a fundraiser or volunteer your time.

Together, we can help more of our neighbors put nourishing meals on the table.
