Building the Future: Tech CU Supports The Tech Challenge and the Next Generation of Innovators
At Tech CU, we believe that investing in education today helps build stronger communities tomorrow. That’s why we’re honored to support The Tech Interactive through two impactful initiatives: The Tech Challenge and Tech for Global Good.
Inspiring the Next Generation Through The Tech Challenge
Now in its 39th year, The Tech Challenge invites teams of students in grades 4–12 to use the engineering design process to solve real-world problems — the longest-running engineering challenge in the nation. Over the course of several months, students collaborate, brainstorm, build prototypes, test their designs, and document their progress, which culminates in a final showcase where they demonstrate their solutions in front of judges and the community.
The 2026 Tech Challenge focuses on a timely and complex issue: affordable housing. Student teams are challenged to design and build a device capable of safely and accurately lifting housing modules at a construction site, reflecting real-world modular construction challenges.
Beyond technical skills, The Tech Challenge helps students develop teamwork, critical thinking, perseverance, and confidence. Participants learn that iteration and failure are not setbacks, but essential parts of the innovation process.
Celebrating Technology’s Impact Through Tech for Global Good
In addition to supporting student innovation, Tech CU is also proud to support Tech for Global Good, an initiative that highlights how technology can be harnessed to improve lives, promote equity, and address global challenges.
On Friday, January 16, 2026, The Tech Interactive hosted the Tech for Global Good Celebration at the Signia by Hilton San Jose. The event brought together leaders, innovators, and supporters who share a belief in technology as a force for good.
The evening featured a special fireside conversation hosted by Drew Carey with global humanitarian Steve Wozniak, along with recognition of the 2025–26 Tech for Global Good Laureates. These are individuals and organizations that have bridged technology and human-centered solutions to advance well-being and sustainable development worldwide.
Proceeds from the celebration directly support The Tech Interactive’s mission to inspire people of all backgrounds to see themselves as innovators and changemakers.
A Shared Commitment to Innovation with Purpose
While The Tech Challenge and Tech for Global Good are distinct programs, together they reflect a shared belief: innovation matters most when it is inclusive, human-centered, and driven by purpose.
Tech CU is proud to support both initiatives as part of our ongoing commitment to education, community impact, and positive change. From students tackling real-world engineering challenges to global leaders advancing solutions for humanity, we’re inspired by the many ways innovation can help build a better future.
