What is the fastest aquatic animal? (Answer: A sailfish). In which city did the Olympic games originate? (Answer: Athens, Greece). How many Earths can fit inside the sun? (Answer: 1.3 million).

As these questions suggest, it is time to dust off your trivia knowledge and get ready to join Tech CU at Breakthrough Silicon Valley’s “Are you smarter than a Breakthrough student?” trivia night.

Your attendance supports the college dreams of Breakthrough Silicon Valley students who are determined to be the first in their families to graduate from college. Breakthrough Silicon Valley’s mission is to empower young people from underserved communities to reach their full potential through education. Its multi-faceted seven-year program launches low-income, first-generation students on the path to college through personalized academic advising and support, college counseling, and leadership development. The new College Pathways Initiative extends critical programming and support through Breakthrough students’ first year of college.

In addition to sponsoring the trivia event, Tech CU regularly sponsors Breakthrough’s college tours. These tours allow Breakthrough Silicon Valley students to visit numerous colleges and universities while also getting a taste of public and private institutions. The students meet with Breakthrough alumni at various campuses who speak about many topics including campus life, the transition to college, Educational Opportunity Programs, and securing a dream job or internship.
