Working to Feed Our Community with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley

Tech CU is a proud supporter of Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, an organization dedicated to ensuring that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one.
Despite the immense wealth in Silicon Valley, and partly due to the high cost of living, hunger and malnutrition are pervasive. One in three local kids may not be getting enough to eat. Hunger can take an emotional toll on these kids as they worry about having enough food.
These problems were compounded last year by the COVID-19 pandemic and the wildfires raging in Northern and Southern California.
That is why Tech CU donated to a number of Second Harvest of Silicon Valley causes last year, including:
- COVID-19 Relief: When the pandemic hit, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley saw a huge increase in requests for food. Tech CU raised funds and hosted a virtual food drive to help.
- Wildfire Relief: Tech CU donated funds to support Second Harvest’s efforts in assisting the victims and volunteers of the Northern and Southern California wildfires. Second Harvest supplied both KN95 and N95 masks to those working and volunteering outdoors and worked with partners to provide meal programs that meet the needs of people who have been impacted—ensuring that food and water was received by those who needed it most.
- For the Kids Campaign: Designed to ensure kids and families have the nutritious food they need to thrive, Tech CU employees and members donated nearly 63,850 meals to this campaign in 2020.
“Since 1991, Tech CU has helped us provide over 351,000 meals for our neighbors in need,” said Lejla Bojer, a corporate philanthropy officer at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. “Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is grateful for Tech CU’s partnership and support throughout the years!”
We look forward to supporting Second Harvest of Silicon Valley for years to come.
