The best summer shopping days 

With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, one of the best shopping days of the year is already gone. However, if you’re a deal hungry shopper, fear not! There will still be plenty of good shopping in the dog days of summer. Here are some of the best windows to hit the stores.

June 

Father’s Day

The days leading up to Father’s Day are jam-packed with deals on things like hardware and tech. That’s great if the dad in your life likes those kinds of products, but it can also be good for you. Need to restock the tool box? Do it near Father’s Day. Same goes for upgrading your computer or phone.

Grad gift cards

As Opens a new windowUS News reports, lots of restaurants and other retailers offer discounts on gift cards for new college grads. Sometimes the cards come with a bonus card just for you. For example, you might purchase a $50 card for the grad and get $20 for you, free.

July 

 

Amazon Prime Day 

For the past three years, Amazon has held its massive savings day — Amazon Prime Day — in mid-July. (They haven’t named a day yet, but look for it the week of July 9.) If you’re a Prime member, you can expect massive discounts on everything from clothing to tech. If you’re not a Prime member, don’t worry. Other retailers have responded to Amazon’s Prime Day by countering with one day sales of their own. Last year Walmart and eBay held their own single day savings event the same day as Amazon did.

August 

Tax-Free weekends

States typically start their tax-free weekends in August. While not all states participate, the savings can be huge. If you’re on the hunt for a an expensive item, these weekends are as good a time as any.

Back-to-school

The back-to-school deals will start in early August, so be prepared. Make a list of the items your kids need to help avoid overspending. That goes for you, too. Back-to-school sales are no longer limited to things only kids need.
