Tech CU Makes Donation to Help Haiti Earthquake Victims
Technology Credit Union is making a donation of $5,442 to the American Red Cross Haiti relief fund through donations collected from the credit union’s employees, along with a 100 percent matching offer from Tech CU.
“When we first learned of the earthquake in Haiti, Tech CU employees immediately began asking how they could help,” said Kim Vu, assistant vice president of Private Banking and community liaison at Tech CU. “Tech CU is committed to helping our local communities through our volunteerism efforts—last year we donated nearly 370 hours to local non-profit organizations—and we also have a tradition of working together to raise money for international causes.”
When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005, Tech CU employees collected donations to send to Louisiana. Last year, when storms and typhoons ravaged Southeast Asia and the Philippines, the Tech CU staff once again pooled its donations to send to humanitarian aid groups to help the regions affected.
While Vu rallied employees to make donations, Senior Vice President of Human Resources LeeAnne Giblin coordinated the employer match.
“At Tech CU, we pride ourselves on community,” said Giblin. “Even though Haiti is thousands of miles away, we understand that the world is really one small community, and our employees are always willing to lend help in any way they can. It’s only natural that Tech CU match every dollar that our employees collect to help earthquake victims. It’s the Tech CU way.”
