• New Federal Regulations Will Affect You

New and important federal regulations have now taken effect that impact your checking account. These new regulations require Tech CU to obtain your consent before we can enroll you in overdraft protection programs covering ATM and everyday debit card transactions. This regulation applies solely to ATM and everyday debit card transactions. It does not apply to checks, ACH or recurring debit transactions, such as scheduled monthly rent or utility payments.

    How it works
If you have been covered by our overdraft protection program and want to keep your account the same by continuing to use this overdraft service, you will need to opt in for ATM and everyday debit card transactions. If you do not opt in, you will be covered for checks, ACH, and recurring debit transaction overdrafts — but you are no longer covered for ATM and everyday debit card transactions.

    Why opt in?
You should opt in if you would like to have your ATM and everyday debit card transactions approved when you have insufficient funds — this helps you avoid declined transactions. There is no charge unless an overdraft occurs. If you opt in and happen to overdraw your account, we may cover the insufficient amount for a $25 per transaction fee. Without this coverage, if you attempt to use your debit card to make a purchase without sufficient funds in your account, your debit card transaction will be declined.
