COVID-19 has caused a tremendous strain on our healthcare system. At the start of the pandemic, it became immediately clear that there were shortages of nearly everything needed to run a hospital safely and effectively – protective masks, hand sanitizer, latex gloves and other materials.
As a supporter of our local community, we knew that helping to protect our frontline workers was a top priority. That is why Tech CU is proud to work with Valley Medical Center Foundation, an organization aimed at supporting frontline workers by serving as an official collection point for COVID-19 donations in Santa Clara County.
The County of Santa Clara is the largest provider of essential health services to vulnerable populations in our region. VMC helped coordinate the distribution of donated personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and through its work, the organization has supplied millions of items to local hospitals and healthcare organizations. Additionally, it invested in testing gear, technology and protective equipment.
Tech CU donated 300 N95 masks when masks were scarce. It also donated funds, responding to the critical need for personal protective equipment and other necessary hospital equipment.
“We absolutely need our community partners standing with us in this crisis. Some are donating personal protective equipment, some give money, some provide meals to front-line heroes and some, like Tech CU, have been doing ALL THREE,” said Chris Wilder, CEO of Valley Medical Center Foundation.
