What to buy on Amazon Prime Day

Though there has been no official announcement yet, rumors are flying that Amazon Prime Day — the annual shopping “holiday” from the online retailer that features massive discounts — will be July 16. The rumor was sparked when Amazon’s UK arm seemingly accidentally Opens a new windowleaked the date.

Even if Prime Day doesn’t start on July 16 (it often lasts more than 24 hours), it will almost definitely be in July, because previous Amazon Prime Days have occurred during that month. That means it’s time to prepare yourself for mega deals. While you shouldn’t spend just to spend, should you have any of the below items on your radar, Amazon Prime Day will likely be a great day to purchase them.

TVs. Amazon has made a habit out of discounting flat screen TVs on Prime Day. US News Opens a new windowreports that 4K TVs, especially those with Amazon’s smart TV service Fire built in, will likely be marked way down.

Amazon Services. Hate grocery shopping? Check Prime Day for a discount on Amazon’s grocery-delivery service AmazonFresh. The service is normally $14.99 per month along with a Prime subscription. Grocery deliveries are free for orders of $40 or more; $9.99 for orders $40 and under.

DNA testers. Ever wonder about your family tree? Prime Day might be the place to start unraveling that mystery. Amazon has offered discounts on 23andMe’s DNA testing pack quite often, so expect it to be offered again on Prime Day. Last year the tester was marked down a whopping 50 percent.

Smart home tech. Amazon’s smart home tech the Amazon Echo just got an update, so be on the lookout for deals on Prime Day. Last year Amazon cut the price of the Echo and the smaller Echo Dot by 50 percent and 30 percent, respectively.
