Tech CU is proud to partner with Family Giving Tree, whose mission is to connect those who can give to those in need with educational support, gifts, and volunteerism. Family Giving Tree aims to inspire community kindness, generosity, and volunteerism by fulfilling exact holiday wishes and providing backpacks filled with STEAM-based school supplies to those in need.
Despite the immense wealth in Silicon Valley, more than 800,000 Bay Area residents are living at or below the poverty line, with one out of every four children living in poverty. This means that many in the Silicon Valley community can’t afford to provide toys and books to their children during the holiday season and are unable to afford basic school supplies.
For 31 years, the Family Giving Tree has been steadfastly committed to being of service to those most in need throughout the greater Bay Area. This Holiday Season, Family Giving Tree will be serving their two millionth recipient.
For over 15 years, Tech CU has partnered with Family Giving Tree by hosting holiday gift drives to collect children’s exact holiday wishes. It has donated thousands of gifts and spread the word through public service announcements.
Tech CU has also donated thousands of school supplies and hosted yearly backpack builds, which aims to equip underprivileged and vulnerable children with the tools needed to go back to school as prepared as their peers. Additionally, Tech CU employees have spent countless hours stuffing and sorting backpacks with school supplies.
We look forward to supporting their mission for many years to come, which also means supporting them now. Family Giving Tree’s Holiday Wish Drive has begun. Its goal is to fulfill children’s exact holiday gift wishes — removing the financial burden of the holiday season and allowing families to enjoy it. So please join us in our support.
