San Jose, CA (Nov 6, 2005)—Technology Credit Union (Tech CU) is pleased to announce the winner of its ‘Driven to Excellence’ Sweepstakes prize. On November 4, Mary Uribes, a long-time Tech CU member and winner of the drawing, drove home a 2006 Pontiac Solstice convertible fresh off the assembly line.
Ms. Uribes entered the drawing for the car, which was also featured on the NBC Show The Apprentice, at the Grand Opening celebration of Tech CU’s newest Financial Center in South San Jose. The new branch office, located at 846-A Blossom Hill Road across from Westfield Shoppingtown Oakridge, opened its doors to the public on June 1, 2005.
The Solstice, one of the first models off the assembly line and one of only a handful available in the Bay area, arrived at the Capitol Pontiac and Buick Dealership in San Jose on November 1. Mary admits that she was in a state of shock when she found out about the result of the raffle: “I don’t even remember my first conversation with Tech CU, because I was so excited! When I told my husband, and he asked what kind of car I won, I said ‘I don’t even know.’” To find out, she went to a Tech CU branch and slyly asked the staff what kind of car Tech CU raffled off at the Grand Opening.
Ms. Uribe is now the lucky owner and driver of the Solstice, which she has nicknamed ‘My Silver Beauty.’ “I look at it in my garage, and I feel that I’m the luckiest Tech CU member ever,” she admits. Ms. Uribes has also been one of the most loyal members of Tech CU. She joined the Credit Union over 30 years ago. She has five children, four of whom are also Credit Union members. Tech CU has assisted the Uribes family manage its finances over the years with multiple car, personal and home equity loans, as well as other services.
In addition to the excitement generated through the highly publicized sweepstakes, Tech CU’s Grand Opening of its Santa Teresa Financial Center represented a major strategic milestone for the Credit Union. The opening of this new location marked a new phase of physical branch expansion whereby the credit union will open at least 1 new Financial Center in a retail site each year.
Tech CU’s choice of location in Santa Teresa is a reflection of its strategic vision for becoming a premier provider of financial services to targeted, fast-growing communities in the Bay Area.
