San Jose, CA (Dec. 20, 2005)—Technology Credit Union (Tech CU), in keeping with the spirit of the holiday season, participated in charitable campaigns organized by The Family Giving Tree and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
“Although there are many initiatives during the Holiday season, we chose to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and The Family Giving Tree because of their local focus,” says LeeAnne Giblin, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Tech CU.
Similar to Tech CU, both the Second Harvest Food Bank and the Family Giving Tree are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and serve their local communities.
Tech CU has participated in Second Harvest’s food drive for several years in a row. This season, Tech CU’s two hundred employees donated over ten barrels of non-perishable grocery items, while ten volunteers spent an evening at the San Jose Food Distribution Center to inspect, label and help sort food. Tech CU employees also collected 103 toys for distribution by the Family Giving Tree, and volunteered at the warehouse sort.
Tech CU’s participation in these holiday campaigns is just another example of the organization’s community involvement. Other local charities that Tech CU supports include InnVision, HOPE Services, Vision Literacy, Girls for a Change and the Santa Clara Valley Chapter American Red Cross.
