Technology Credit Union Contributes to Hurricane Relief Effort
San Jose, CA, (Sept. 1, 2005)—Technology Credit Union (Tech CU) announced today that it is taking action to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Tech CU is contributing to critical relief efforts by (1) providing its members with free domestic wire transfers to the affected areas, (2) matching all employee donations to the American Red Cross, and (3) dispatching Tech CU volunteers to the local chapter of the American Red Cross to provide administrative support to help expedite the local response during this period of overwhelming need.
“Technology Credit Union and its employees are honored to be able to extend a helping hand in this time of need,” said Tech CU CEO, Ken Burns. Mr. Burns announced that Tech CU would waive all fees on domestic wires to the affected areas, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas, until further notice. In addition, fees would be waived for wires sent to established charitable organizations.
Of the employee initiatives, Mr. Burns stated: “I was extremely pleased to see our employees’ immediate response to the disaster. So many came forth as individuals and showed their generosity and desire to help through donations of both their time and money. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragic disaster.”
